A MAN spat in a police officer's face has been jailed.
Martin Stalley shouted "Hepatitis C, have some of this", before spitting and also shouted at his Staffordshire bull terrier to bite the officer.

Stalley, 22, of Erdington Road, Blackpool, admitted two assaults when he appeared before Blackpool magistrates.

Sharon Child, prosecuting, said police received a report Stalley had attacked a man at his Fleetwood home on August 24.

Stalley punched out at the officer who went to question him.

The dog started jumping up at the officer. Stalley then spat in the officer's face.

Gerry Coyle, defending, said Stalley had gone to another man's home and punched him after they argued over a bicycle.

Stalley said the man then hit him with a crowbar.

He claimed the first thing the police officer did when he came to the door was to punch him.

Stalley, who told the court he did not have Hepatitis C, was sentenced to 16 weeks imprisonment.
