A MAN seen swinging a sock containing a brick told police his name was George W Bush.
Graham Todd, 31, of Dickson Road, Blackpool, admitted possessing an offensive weapon in public when he appeared before Blackpool magistrates.
Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said that on August 28 at 12.41pm a police community support officer saw Todd swinging a sock about outside the Salvation Army Citadel on Raikes Parade.
When questioned Todd said he had a brick in the sock and he was going to hit a Scotsman who had hit him.
Asked his name by the officer Todd replied: "George W Bush."
David Charnley, defending, said his client had mental health problems.
The Scotsman had been causing problems at the flats where both he and Todd lived, Mr Charnley said.
Todd told his landlady about this and she had confronted the man.
Mr Charnley said Todd had the brick in the sock in case the Scotsman hit him again.
Todd was fined £80 with £60 costs and ordered to pay the £15 victims' surcharge.
