Police in Chorley have dropped a rape inquiry after the alleged victim said she did not want to proceed with the case.
The 19-year-old from Chorley contacted police on Friday to say she didn't want to pursue the matter.
Officers from the Major Investigation Team launched an investigation following reports that a 19-year-old girl had been raped on Devonshire Road
between 3.15am and 4am on Sunday.
Two males - a 17-year-old and a 19-year-old - were arrested in connection with the incident and both have been eliminated from the inquiry.
The teenage reveller, who had spent Saturday night in several town centre pubs, said she had been walking back to a friend's house along Devonshire Road when she claimed two men were following her.
The alleged attack was said to have happened close to the post office on Devonshire Road and lasted for a couple of minutes.
Det Insp Jan Beasant said: "We are no longer looking for anybody in relation to this incident.
"It has been an exhaustive inquiry and very time-consuming. We've looked at a lot of CCTV and done a lot of house-to-house inquiries."
She said the cost of the inquiry ran into 'thousands of pounds' but she couldn't be more precise.
Det Insp Beasant said it was not thought any charges would be brought against the alleged victim.
