Plummeting temperatures have brought a new wave of disruption for drivers in Chorley.
Motorists faced hazardous driving conditions on Monday after the return of the big freeze.

In Whittle-le-Woods, Town Lane was closed for a number of hours on Monday morning after a van slid on the ice and crashed into a wall on the busy rural lane, which connects Heapey with Whittle-le-Woods.

The accident took place at around 9am affecting the busy morning commute.

One onlooker, who asked not to be named, said: "It's a pretty steep hill and the van lost control on the ice. It is very bad throughout the village - there is not much grip.

"Motorists are being very cautious, which is certainly the right thing to do, but it's causing a few delays."

On Sunday morning the roads around Chorley Little Theatre in Dole Lane had a thin covering of snow after an overnight fall.
