A 45-year-old Chorley man who died after becoming trapped underneath a van in a restaurant car park has been named.
Carl Green, 45, died after being involved in a collision with a white Citroen van close to Chiquito Mexican Grill and Bar, on the docks in Preston.

Police have now arrested a 35-year-old man from Colwyn Bay on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and he was due to be questioned today (Wednesday).

The dramatic scenes unfolded at 12.40pm on Tuesday (July 27) when emergency services raced to free Mr Green, who had been walking close to the entrance of Odeon Cinema, in Portway.

Firefighters used airbags to lift the vehicle and eye-witnesses said they had seen him talk for a few minutes before he lost consciousness.

Paramedics then desperately tried to resuscitate him and a police officer stepped in to drive the ambulance to hospital to allow them to continue working on him.

He died shortly after arriving at the Royal Preston Hospital.
