Chorley's famous prom season got off to a flying start when pupils from Southlands High School got dressed up in their gladrags and were chauffeured in limousines to dance the night away.
There were around 170 year 11 pupils dressed in ball gowns and evening suits who arrived at Haigh Hall, Wigan, in white and pink stretch limousines.
They enjoyed a buffet, played in a casino to win prizes and dance. There were also more than 50 staff from the school.
Headteacher Mark Fowle said: "The students were a delight to be with, it was a most enjoyable evening. However, the reality set in as we began the long exam season on Monday with more than 70 hours of examinations!"
- Chorley's prom season is now a regular fixture in the social calendar and the Guardian is planning to feature the photos of the big events as they unfold.
