The name's BNI Olympus

A Leyland business networking group held an awards evening with a difference.

BNI Olympus has been meeting every Tuesday morning at 6.45am for five years and to mark the anniversary they decided to combine an awards night with the film premiere of a new BNI promotional DVD.

This was recently filmed at Farington Lodge, Leyland, at one of their lively and eventful weekly meetings, by Flapjac video production company, who are also BNI members.

There was a Bond theme throughout and black tie and evening dresses were worn by all.

After the showing of the film and a three-course meal, the awards were presented by Mike Gelder of Redleg IT consultancy.

Special gold 'referral hands' made by Gary Baldwin of Copper Creative were awarded in a host of categories including to 'Best Member' and 'Best Referral'.

The final award for 'Lifetime Achievement' was presented to Jackie Williams of Primary Graphics, who was a founder member of the chapter five years ago.

Mike Holman, regional director, said: "Being a member of BNI requires commitment. Many people try it for a year and fall by the wayside because they haven't really grasped the point that you get out of it what you put in – as with most things in life.

"'Givers gain' is the philosophy of BNI and once you put this into practice there is no end to the benefits you can derive from being an active member of a group like this."
