Game review: Lego marvel superheroes

Have your say

Lego and Marvel have finally joined forces and TT Games and Warner Bros Interactive have brought them to life requiring players to play as the Avengers, The Fantastic Four, the X-men and Spiderman in attempts to stop Loki, Dr Doom and Magneto from destroying the world using a weapon made out of Cosmic Bricks. It’s a typical Marvel story but with Lego’s infamous charm injected into it, it is a joy to play through with laughs throughout.

Gameplay wise, the Lego missions are fully intact with its patent simple puzzles and boss fights seen before which requires only the correct power to complete. The open world hub has been brought over from Lego Batman 2 however it is now a fully realised New York City, fictional of course with its Stark Tower, Marvel HQ and Fantastic Fours labs. There’s nothing quite like roaming the city as one of the 150 Marvel characters on offer here although you will have to unlock them first. Want to fly around as Iron Man? Wreak havoc as The Incredible Hulk? You can, it is all here and it’s all fantastic fun.

Lego marvel superheroes

Lego Marvel looks great, each character is faithfully recreated in all their blocky goodness with every detail there and all their powers that make them so famous. The city is filled with citizens and collectables such as Red bricks and gold brick which are needed to unlock other Marvel characters and Red bricks unlock cheats. This game is not without faults though, with occasional glitching and awful vehicle controls but these do nothing to bruise the brilliant gameplay.

Summary

Lego Marvel Superheroes may be the best Lego game to date with its sprawling fictional hub world to play around in and every one of the Marvel characters faithfully portrayed to play as at your leisure. Collecting has never been so fun, I recommend to all players young and old.
