Dave Foulks managed to make an immediate impression on Caroline Ravenscroft – and he proved difficult to forget.
The couple, from Preston, met in the seaside resort of Scarborough in where Caroline, a seamstress, was completing a degree.
Caroline says; “Dave was working in a bar when we met.
“When we bumped into each other on a night out a few years later he bet me I wouldn’t remember his name and I did!”
Clearly Caroline had also made quite the impression on Dave so the pair decided to go on their first date – to the Sealife Centre.
Two years later and a new baby in tow, Dave, an IT sales and technician originally from Chesterfield, decided to take the plunge and ask Caroline to be his wife.
“We were just putting our little boy, Abel, to bed,” says Caroline. “Dave and I had just finished reading Peepo to him and as I put Abel in his crib, I turned around and Dave was down on one knee with a ring.
“It was understated and perfect.”
On November 30, 2013, Caroline and Dave were married in an intimate ceremony at Samlesbury Hall, Samlesbury in front of less than 40 people.
“It was a freezing cold Saturday and Samlesbury Hall had put up all their Christmas decorations so everything was sparkly,” says Caroline.
“Abel, who has just turned two, walked up the aisle with me and my dad.”
Ahead of the wedding breakfast and after the civil ceremony had taken place, Caroline’s grandpa, who is also a vicar, performed a blessing for the couple in front of their friends and family.
“Then,” says Caroline, “for the rest of the day, we partied!”
Part of the partying included the newlyweds taking to the floor as husband and wife to perform their first dance together to Fun’s, ‘We Are Young.’
Caroline adds: “The DJ we had in the evening was fantastic. He played plenty of rock music for us, 80’s stuff, Motley Crue and Guns and Roses.”
