CHORLEY firefighters showed just how squeaky clean they really are this weekend.
Members of the Blue Watch led the way in a car wash to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity on Saturday, and walked away with £636.
Firefighter Lee Carter said: “It was a fantastic day, and we were really busy.
“There was a constant flow of people coming in to get their cars washed from 10am, and although we were supposed to finish at 2pm, we carried on a bit longer because it was going so well.
“One man donated £20, which was great, and there were plenty of people giving around £2.
“At a car wash in September, we raised around £200, so that goes to show how popular this event is becoming; it’s even more successful now.”
Halfords provided the sponges and buckets for the day, and the money will go towards providing a range of services to enhance the quality of life for serving and retired fire service personnel and their families.
