Appeal for witnesses after schoolboy is seriously injured at busy road junction

Police have appealed for information after an 11-year-old boy was hurt in a collision with a car.

The youngster was crossing the road at the junction of Bolton Road and Pilling Lane, in Chorley, when he was in a collision with a Mercedes C220 at around 4.15pm yesterday.

He was airlifted to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital for treatment to a suspected fractured skull, a broken arm, a broken leg and cuts and bruises.

The boy is now recovering in hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses to call them on 101, quoting log number 0940 of October 20.
