A Chorley schoolgirl is making a song and a dance about gaining a place on a prestigious course.
St Michael’s High School year 11 pupil Billie Hamer, will be performing with the well-known Italia Conti School of Performing Arts.
Billie, 16, has been involved in drama and dance since she was four and her dream has always been to pursue a career on the stage.
Recently, she starred in the school production of ‘Les Miserables’ and wowed audiences with her natural talent and stage presence.
Billie has a busy few weeks ahead of her now seeking sponsorship and financial backing to pursue this dream of a lifetime.
She said: “My love of performing began at the King George’s Hall in Blackburn and I continued dancing through my early years and took part in my first school play aged 10.
“After this performance I was advised to approach a stage or private theatre school and when I started at St Michael’s, I joined a group called The Imagine Academy.
“I have performed through my ‘talented and gifted’ status at school, and following my very first audition at Italia Conti in November last year I was offered a place. “This one year intensive course if completed successfully, leads straight into year two of the diploma I originally applied for.
“The one year course has no state funding or awards available and as such is beyond our means.
“I am currently seeking funding through ideas or sponsorship at school and would love any ideas to help me succeed in my dream.”
