The role of a Chorley company in the multi-million pound revamp of the Bolton West Services on the M61 can be revealed.

Euro Garages spent £12.3 million and 18 months turning the run-down facilities into the state-of-the-art Rivington Services.

The new-look services opened in May and boast a range of retail and fast food services, including a Burger King restaurant.

One of the firms employed on the contract was Coppull-based S&S Northern, who are one of the leading UK gas ventilation and interlock specialists.

They worked closely with Euro Garages and ventilation specialists Combi Vent to install a new gas interlock safety system at the site’s Burger King outlet.

S&S Northern Director Steve McMahon said: “This is the third such project with Euro Garages in which we have been asked to supply our gas safety interlock system which meets BS6173 required for all new and refurbished commercial kitchens.”

Zuber Issa, chief executive of Euro Garages said: “Customers now expect to find trusted and quality brands like Burger King at service stations and we have a responsibility to make these outlets safe – by using S&S Northern we have ensured just that.”

S&S Northern was established in 1995 and is a family-run business.

The company employs 12 staff and have installed systems have been installed in The House of Parliament, TV’s Hell’s Kitchen, Old Trafford cricket ground and Edinburgh Castle.

In a separate move S&S Northern has launched a new e-commerce website to respond to increasing customer demand.

The e-commerce site, www.snsnorthern.com enables customers to browse stock, use the Spec Wizard tool to help find the perfect gas safety solution for a specific project.
