A Chorley tattooist is using a ‘smart’ initiative to launch his new business venture.
Jason Lane, from Coppull, has opened a tattoo studio on Steeley Lane, and has adapted a stylish approach to attract customers – a waistcoat and tie.
Jason, who has trained in the business for two years, said: “I think it’s important to look smart in any job, and people realise you’re professional if you dress well.
“I also feel that you do a better job when you’re smartly dressed.”
Jason named his shop, Black Dog Tattoos, after a Led Zeppelin song, along with the fact he has a black dog of his own.
He says his favourite tattoo is of an Iron Maiden album cover, Aces High.
“I have about 20 tattoos,” he said. “And I absolutely love the job.
“I’ve been drawing all my life, and have always been artistic, so tattoos are just a different medium for that.”
Before starting his training in Preston, Jason worked as a landscape gardener, drawing designs for patios.
He said: “The weather made me want to change my career path, the winters were just getting colder and wetter.
“This is a job which I can do all year round.”
At the moment, Jason is a tattooist, using stencils on the skin, but aspires to be a fully-fledged tattoo artist one day.
“I’ve done hundreds of tattoos over the past couple of years,” he said. “And I’ve had quite a few bookings for the new shop.”
