A ROAD smash caused commuter chaos as drivers made their way home from work on Monday evening.
The accident happened on Moor Road, Chorley, when a Vauxhall Astra and a Citroen Saxo collided.
Police were called to the incident by the ambulance service at 5.05pm.
Traffic backed up along Moor Road in the direction of Coppull.
A police patrol blocked off Crown Street, Moor Road and the Yarrow Valley roundabout.
Police said most of the traffic was turned round as work to clean up a 60m stretch of fuel spillage took place.
A road block was set up until the work was done.
At 6.05pm the road closure moved to Eaves Green Road.
Police said a broken down bus in the closure area also had to be removed.
One of the drivers of the two vehicles involved in the collision was taken to Chorley Hospital for treatment but their injuries were understood to be minor.
The road was reopened at 7.10pm after police had cleared the damage.
