A round-up of this week’s court cases.

A Leyland man has been fined £100 for breaking a 50mph speed limit in Tarleton. Daniel James Schultz, 30, from Leyland Lane, pleaded guilty. He must also pay a victim surcharge of £20, court costs of £85, and had three points added to his licence.

A 22-year-old has been caught speeding. Kane James O’Hanlon, from Highfield Avenue, Farington, drove faster than a 50mph limit in Tarleton. Five points were added to his licence, and he was fined £100 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

A drink-driver has been fined £365. Leonard Twells Fulton Campbell, 49, from Broadfield Drive, Leyland, was caught driving in Bannister Drive under the influence of alcohol. He pleaded guilty, and has been banned from driving for 17 months. He must also pay a victim surcharge of £37 and court costs of £85.

A driver who broke a 30mph speed limit in Church Street, Adlington, has been fined £220. The case of Michael Mawdesley, 55, from Stump Lane, Chorley, was proved in his absence. Three points were added to his licence, and he must also pay a victim surcharge of £22 and court costs of £85.

A man has admitted to stealing £40 worth of meat from Asda in Chorley. Carl William Gaskell, 35, from Princess Street, Chorley, has been ordered to pay compensation of £40, a victim surcharge of £15, and costs of £85, discharged conditionally for 12 months.

A woman has had three points added to her driving record for speeding. Katie Parker, 34, from Harpers Lane, Chorley, drove faster than a 30mph limit. The case was proved in her absence, and she was fined £220. She must also pay a victim surcharge of £22 and court costs of £85.

A woman has pleaded guilty to stealing a Braun thermoscan thermometre, worth £42.99, black Asda boots, costing £18, mixed groceries, and Capri Sun drinks, to the value of £4, from Chorley’s Asda. Hayley Priestley, 24, from Regent Street, Coppull, must pay compensation of £11, a victim surcharge of £15, and costs of £85, discharged conditionally for 12 months.

A man has been fined £40 for using abusive words or behaviour. Dean Sean Taylor, 41, from Railway Street, Chorley, pleaded guilty. He must also pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.

A man has confessed to being drunk and disorderly in a public place. Jason Croasdale, 24, from Pennine Road, Chorley, was causing a scene in St Georges Street in the town. He must pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £85, discharged conditionally for 12 months.
