Jansen says there is no pressure on his men as they enter the final eight games of the campaign in a play off spot, fourth in the National League North table with a three point cushion ahead of a tough clash at Salford City tonight.

The ex-Blackburn Rovers striker says the promotion chase is still in their hands and wants his players to keep up their hard work and finish the season on a high and get their rewards.

He said: “How hard they have worked all season is testament to our position and so long as they keep working hard we will finish the season strongly.

“We have no fear, no pressure, there is more pressure on teams who are spending lots of money, we are punching above our weight with our budget.

“We have eight games left and I just want the players to enjoy their football and enjoy the position we are in and try and get as many points as possible.

“We are still fourth and it is still in our hands.”

Chorley face a home double-header after the trip to Salford with Curzon Ashton and Gainsborough Trinity visiting Victory Park.

And Jansen wants the fans to be their 12th man in this final run-in.

He said: “The (fans) are massive.

“I’ve always said they can be our 12th man and positivity breeds positivity so I hope they cheer us all the way.”

Chorley lost 2-1 at Harrogate on Saturday with Jack Sampson netting his sixth goal in nine games since he joined the club on-loan from Macclesfield in January.

And Jansen hailed the strikers impact since his arrival at Victory Park.

He said: “Jack Sampson was what we needed.

“If we’d have had him from the start of the season we would be even higher.”
