A round-up of this week’s court listings.
A woman has been fined £40 for breaking a 30mph speed limit. Joanne Balchan, 33, from Poplar Drive, Coppull, pleaded guilty to speeding on the A6 Bengal Street, Chorley. Three points were added to her licence, and she must also pay a £20 victim surcharge and costs of £85.
A man has been fined £660 after failing to give information to police about a driver alleged to have committed an offence. The case of Neil Gabbott, 30, from Pall Mall, Chorley, was proved in his absence. Six points were added to his driving licence, and he must also pay a victim surcharge of £66 and court costs of £85.
A woman must pay £185 after confessing to driving with inadequate tyres. Sharleen Swift, 32, from Croft Road, Chorley, had three points added to her licence, and was fined £80. She was also ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
A drink-driver who took a car without the owner’s consent, and drove without the relevant licence or insurance, has been banned from getting behind the wheel for 16 months. Shaun Andrew Jenkins, 25, from Claremont Road, Chorley, pleaded guilty to the four charges after he was caught in the William Hill car park off Harpers Lane, Chorley. He will be electronically monitored under curfew for 90 days, and must also pay a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £85.
A man has been caught in the possession of cannabis while subject to an order of conditional discharge. James Fredrick Oldham, 26, from Amber Drive, Chorley, pleaded guilty. He was fined £320, and must also pay a victim surcharge of £32 and court costs of £85.
A man has been banned from driving for 18 months after confessing to driving under the influence of alcohol. David Taylor, 27, from Railway Road, Chorley, was also fined £360 and must pay a £36 victim surcharge and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
