A round-up of who’s been in court - and why.

Two men have each been fined £200 after failing to buy train tickets. Paul Harding, 28, from Long Copse, Chorley, travelled between Euxton Balshaw Lane and Preston without a £5.70 ticket. Craig Winstanley, 32, from Coniston Road, Chorley, was travelling between Chorley and Preston without a £5.60 ticket. The separate cases were both proved in the defendants’ absence, and they were each made to pay costs of £150, a £20 victim surcharge, and compensation to the value of the respective train fares to Northern Rail.

A driver has been fined £305 for speeding, and had five points added to his licence. Elliot Britton, 23, from Market Street, Adlington, pleaded guilty to driving faster than the 30mph limit on a road in Penwortham. He must also pay a victim surcharge of £31 and £85 in court costs.

Three people have each been fined £600 for driving without the relevant insurance. The separate cases of Katherine Anne Green, 24, from Withnell Fold, Withnell; Richard Allan Ingham, 37, from Cedar Field, Clayton-le-Woods; and Joanne Marie Jones, 44, from St Oswalds Court, Coppull, were all proved in their absence. Six points were added to their licences, and they must each pay a £60 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

A man has pleaded guilty to two separate charges of breaking a 30mph speed limit. For each instance, Liam Charles Slack, 24, from Langton Brow, Eccleston, was fined £90 and had three points added to his licence. He was also ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge, and court costs totalling £170.

A man has been fined £105 after confessing to speeding. Mariusz Musielak, 39, from Pilling Lane, Chorley, drove faster than the 30mph limit along the A6 Shepherds Way, Chorley. His driving record was endorsed with three points, and he must also pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.

A man has been fined £400 after he failed to give information to police about a driver alleged to have committed an offence. Will Padley, 37, from Derek Road, Whittle-le-Woods, pleaded guilty. Six points were added to his driving licence, and he was also made to pay a victim surcharge of £40 and costs of £85.

A 46-year-old broke the speed limit on the A6 Shepherds Way in Chorley. Sheena Marie Desoer, from Fielden Street, Chorley, admitted the offence. She was fined £60, with a £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs. Three points were also added to her licence.

A man has pleaded guilty to breaking the 50mph speed limit on a road in Anderton. Andrew David Nuttall, 42, from Fairview Drive, Adlington, was fined £175 with a £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs. Three points were also added to his licence.
