It’s Christmas! Yes, yuletide has arrived early in Chorley with the official launch of a popular shopping centre’s Christmas shop.

A huge family event opened Botany Bay’s renowned Christmas shop, which takes over a large area of the top floor of the former mill building. Botany Bay’s Christmas characters arrived by canal barge on the adjoining Leeds and Liverpool canal at noon, to declare the shop open, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Candy Cane Lane. A Rock FM roadshow provided the soundtrack to the event with festive tunes.

In advance of the launch, the radio station offered one lucky listener the chance to win ‘Christmas all wrapped up’ with Botany Bay, as businesses in the centre came together to offer one lucky winner a Christmas tree with lights and decorations, plus giftware and food and drink from the food hall producers.

Michelle Scott, Botany Bay’s marketing manager, said: “Our team has been working flat out since July to create our Christmas shop, which is renowned for its stunning displays.”
