A Chorley church has found a very different way to spread its message.

Chorley United Reformed Church, on Hollinshead Street, has established two new puppet teams.

And after a grant of £1,000, they have purchased 12 new puppets.

Rev Martin Whiffen from the church said the puppets would become a regular part of services with two new teams of puppeteers performing sketches, interviews and dance routines.

He said: “We are absolutely delighted to have these puppets for the church’s work and even better to have two teams of enthusiastic puppeteers to use them.

“You would think they would appeal only to children.

“In fact, the biggest response has been from adults who think the puppets are brilliant. Everyone is looking forward to when they will be performing next.”

The church says in time they want to take their brand of puppet ministry into schools, children’s centres, nurseries and even hospitals.

Anyone interest in joining the team can call Rev Whiffen on 01257 273222.
