Homebuilder Taylor Wimpey North West was thrilled to present Derian House children’s hospice in Chorley and the North West Air Ambulance Charity cheques totalling £31,758, following its summer Beat the Builder charity challenge.

The challenge was held in Coniston, the Lake District, and consisteda 9.5km of canoeing, 13km of hiking and 25km of cycling, and the homebuilder and participating teams exceeding their initial £25,000 target.

Sophie Saunders, fund-raising manager at Derian House Children’s Hospice, said: “The amount Taylor Wimpey North West has raised for the hospice is just incredible.

“The money will help fund both our services and much-needed equipment, so we can’t thank them enough.”

Gillian Edwards, regional fund-raiser at the North West Air Ambulance Charity, added: “It was absolutely freezing on the day and the waters of Lake Coniston were extremely choppy – making the challenge even harder. ”
