A manhunt has been launched after a man was stabbed several times outside a shop.
Police said a 28-year-old man is lucky to be alive after being targetted outside the Spar shop in Tunley Holme, Clayton Brook.
Officers were called shortly after 4pm on Sunday, November 9, to reports of a stabbing.
On arrival, they found the victim had suffered a number of serious stab wounds and was taken by ambulance to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Now police want to speak to 32 year old Carl Barton in connection with the offence.
He has connections to a number of addresses in Clayton Brook and Bamber Bridge and his most recent links appear to be with addresses on Greenwood, Clayton Brook and Longacre at Bamber Bridge.
Det Sgt Diane Higham, of South CID, said: “This was an extremely serious assault and the victim is lucky to still be alive.
“It is vital that we trace Carl Barton as a matter of urgency and I would appeal to anyone who knows where he might be to get in touch with us.
“I would also appeal to Carl himself, if he sees this appeal, to hand himself in to police so that we can speak to him.
“I would urge members of the public not to approach Carl Barton directly but to contact police.”
A spokesman for the Spar shop said that a female member of staff on duty as well as a number of customers rushed out to help the victim after hearing cries for help, and dialled 999.
