Sue Ryder Cuerden Hall, based at Cuerden Valley Park, received a special donation from Morrisons to celebrate a new promotion in support of the charity – a week’s worth of meals for every resident.

A team from Morrisons in Bamber Bridge visited the neurological care centre to drop off the food delivery, which included steak pies, mince, quiche, cod, salmon, potatoes, broccoli, carrots and apple pies among other items.

“I’d like to thank the team at Morrisons for their generous donation, which will ensure our residents continue to benefit from fresh, delicious and nutritious meals at no cost to Sue Ryder.”

Head of support services, Sylvia Purcell

Morrisons made the donations to Sue Ryder’s hospices and neurological care centres across the country to celebrate their ongoing ‘Made by Morrisons’ mince promotion; 10p per pack of butchers’ mince sold at Morrisons between now and Christmas is being donated to the Morrisons Raise a Smile partnership with Sue Ryder, which started in February 2014 and has raised over £3.6m.

It is hoped the mince promotion will raise £100,000 towards the partnership, which is funding the expansion of Sue Ryder’s hospice services across the UK, including new community healthcare services, family support teams and Sue Ryder’s Online Community and Support (www.sueryder.org/support).

Head of support services, Sylvia Purcell, said: “At Cuerden Hall, we pride ourselves on offering quality food to our residents and our menu is deliberately extensive to encourage people to eat well while they are in our care.

“No request is too big or small for our chefs, who do everything they can to ensure our residents receive freshly prepared, nutritionally balanced meals.

“We also aim to offer as much choice as possible of food that our residents will enjoy eating – perhaps their favourite meal, or a special request.

“The support Sue Ryder has received from Morrisons over the past 18 months has been incredible and on behalf of everyone at Cuerden Hall, I’d like to thank the team at the Bamber Bridge store for their generous donation, which will ensure our residents continue to benefit from fresh, delicious and nutritious meals at no cost to Sue Ryder.”
