Schoolboy Daniel Hargreaves was certainly keeping it in the family when he made his first appearance at prestigious dog show Crufts.
For the 11-year-old was the third generation of his family to be involved in the competition.
The Euxton Primrose Primary School pupil exhibited a large Munsterlander named Sh Ch Aberdaunant Rhian and took first prize in the veteran bitch class.
He had been practising for just 10 minutes each night
His proud mum, Tracey, of Greenside, Euxton, said: “Daniel was extremely professional. He went out there and looked like he had been doing it for years.
“He was gobsmacked to win.
He did everything right.”
Daniel was not the only member of his family to enjoy success at Crufts this year.
His dad, Robert, won the best in breed title with large Munsterlander Sh Ch Ghyllbeck Rapax (Dixon).
And Daniel’s grandmother, Barbara Hargreaves, was judging German shorthaired pointers at Crufts.
Dogs certainly play a key role in the family and Barbara, Robert and Tracey have shown dogs for many years.
Daniel seems destined to follow in the footsteps of his family.
Tracey said: “I would like to think we will be back at Crufts next year. Daniel has expressed a desire to handle there again.
“He is very keen. We will guide him and he will gain experience, but he will do it slowly and steady.”
