Residents in Chorley are being urged to make sure they are on the electoral register so they can vote in forthcoming elections.
Chorley Council is constantly updating the register and additions and changes can be made at most times.
However, people are urged to do so as soon as possible to ensure they are eligible to vote in the local and parish elections due to be held in May 2011, and there could also be a government referendum.
If you are not registered, if you've moved or your name has changed you can download a registration from the website www.chorley.gov.uk/electoralregister or telephone Chorley Council on 01257 515151.
You need to be registered to be able to vote but not being registered can also affect such things as credit ratings and your ability to take out loans, mortgages or other credit including mobile phone contracts.
Householders are required by law to give the information requested on the electoral registration forms.
