Four men have been arrested on suspicion of starting a fire which is spreading across moorland in Lancashire.
The men, a 23-year-old, a 22-year-old and a 21-year-old from Chorley and a 23-year-old from Lostock Hall, near Preston, have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after the fire at Healey Nab, near Chorley on Wednesday.
Firefighters have been tackling the blaze on the West Pennine Moors since 3.30pm.
A Lancashire Police spokesman confirmed that officers had found the individuals after being alerted by members of the public shortly after 4pm.
He said: “The force helicopter was mobilised after a report by a member of the public that these people had been spotted in the area.
“They were arrested at the scene and taken to Leyland police station for question.”
It is expected the four men will be detained for questioning overnight and further questioning on Thursday.
