Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a convenience store in Parbold on Thursday night.

The robbery took place at the McColls convenience store on The Common around 10.30pm when staff at the store were in the process of closing up.

Two masked offenders, one holding a crowbar, bundled a male worker into the rear of the store, where his hands and feet were tied.

A female colleague was detained in the rear stockroom.

A third offender entered the store with a holdall and removed a large amount of cigarettes and tobacco.

An unsuccessful attempt was made to open a cash machine within the store before the raiders demanded the safe was opened and an undisclosed amount of money was stolen.

Police believe a fourth man may also be involved, acting as a look-out or getaway driver. The three offenders are all described as male and were wearing ski masks, gloves and they had their hoods up. Staff members were badly shaken.
