Firefighters freed a startled horse after it wedged itself behind a stable.

The horse was in a paddock when it was frightened by a dog barking and bolted.

It got itself stuck behind a stable and between a fence on Redhouse bridge, Adlington near Chorley at 6.56pm on Saturday.

Firefighters cut the fence down to release the animal and it walked free from behind the stable.

A vet checked the horse over and confirmed it was unharmed by the incident.
