Councillors have refused controversial plans to build nearly 300 homes in Chorley.
Campaigners have so far battled the plans by Redrow Homes for the 135 properties on land near Town Lane and Lucas Lane in Whittle-le-Woods.
They attended the Lancastrian Suite on Tuesday night to voice their concerns about the scheme at Chorley Council’s development control committee meeting.
Councillors agreed with the officers recommendation to refuse the plans.
Villagers in Clayton-le-Woods were also celebrating after the decision to throw out an application for 160 homes on land off Wigan Road.
