Jaw broken in vicious assault

A man suffered a broken jaw after being kicked in the face and head in a terrifying attack in Clayton-le-Woods.

The 45-year-old victim required surgery, after he was assaulted in Fiddlers Lane at its junction with Carr Road, on Friday evening.

It is believed he had been having a disagreement with his girlfriend when two men set upon him in a dark alleyway.

They broke his jaw in two places and he suffered further injury in the incident at around midnight.

A police spokesman said: “The first offender went to punch the aggrieved, but missed.

“The victim then slipped and a second offender threw a glass at his face before both offenders kicked him in the head and face before leaving the scene.”

- Two males, aged 19 and 21, have been arrested by Chorley CID and have been bailed until October 21 pending, further enquiries.
