Former X Factor hopeful Jonjo Kerr is joining the ranks of number one stars the Military Wives for their next assault on the charts.

Jonjo, from Chorley, who made the finals of the ITV1 show last year, is a guest vocalist on a track for the choir’s album which is out next month.

The wives topped the Christmas singles chart with their song Wherever You Are under the guidance of mentor Gareth Malone, who put the group together for a BBC2 series.

The choir pipped Jonjo’s X Factor rivals Little Mix, who won the talent show, to take the festive top spot.

He is a private in 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment and is due to return for a stint in Afghanistan.

He missed his own leaving party to head into the studio to record the song, In My Dreams.

He said: “Through this song my wife and kids will be able to hear my voice every day while I’m away.”

The album, also called In My Dreams, is released on March 5.
