A CHORLEY X Factor star is set to release his first single in the next few months.
Singing soldier JonJo Kerr, from Chorley, was a finalist in the programme in 2011.
It may have taken more than a year, but the 29-year-old has returned to the studio and revealed exciting news on Twitter yesterday.
He posted: “Whoo hooo my debut single is called You Are My World and will be with you all very, very soon xxxxx.”
JonJo is currently busy in his pursuit of musical stardom along with his work down in Warminster, near Bristol, as a soldier.
His manager Dean Maynard believes it is an exciting time for the dad-of-two.
He said: “We are meeting with record label next week to try to arrange a date for shooting a video and then it is all about getting pre-order information for iTunes.
“Then we can finally set a release date.
“Depending on the feedback that we get to the single then JonJo will be hopefully heading back into the studio for two or three weeks to record an album.
“You Are My World was written by some Welsh songwriters called Elements and when we heard it we thought that it was right for JonJo.
“Some people have heard about it and asked if it was a cover.
“But the single and album will be all songs sang by JonJo only.”
JonJo, a former Albany High School pupil, said: “This is something that I have wanted to do ever since I came back from Afghanistan last year.
“It is hard to get into the music industry but I had a big lay-off when I had to go away with the Army, which was straight after the X Factor.
“I have added my vocals to the song and am just waiting for it all to be mixed together.”
Last year, JonJo teamed up with Military Wives for the Festival of Remembrance in the Royal Albert Hall in November to sing the hit In My Dreams.
He admits that he enjoys his job and trying to work on his singing career.
He said: “The lads give me a lot of banter and it is all in a bit of light humour about me singing, but I just love doing it.”
