Here is a list of Lancashire's top delis, as recommended by readers

Port of Lancaster Smokehouse

Established more than 30 years ago, the Port of Lancaster Smokehouse has retained and maintained the traditional methods of preparing and curing fish and meats of all kinds.

Its commitment to quality and high customer service has won such overall acclaim for its smoked foods.

It sources many of its products locally and visitors can watch the fishermen land their daily catch at its factory shop at Glasson Dock.

Always keen to reach as many customers and bring its local produce across the region, the Port also attends farmers markets.

Green's, Kirkham

Customers are keen to shout out about how good Green’s, in Poulton Street, is. Staff individually prepare and make hot and cold sandwiches, salad boxes, and soups, all fresh to order. The menu varies, with daily specials, ensuring no two days are the same.

The deli also serves meats, pies, cheese and cakes, which are all brought fresh in, daily.

Slice of Sicily

With three deli restaurants, in Penwortham, Preston and Garstang, this eatery is growing in popularity.

Using local farmhouse ingredients for its home-made deli products, it sells a wide variety of Italian cheeses, meats, biscuits, liquors, wine, and olives. For those looking for something different, there is an arts and crockery section, plus cookery demonstrations and wine tasting evenings.

The deli also provides home-made outside catering, home-made hampers and wholesale to restaurants and cafes.

The Food Shop, Mawdesley

The Food Shop at Cedar Farm, Mawdesley, is run by husband and wife Phil and Esther Cropper. The beef and lamb is reared in Tarleton and the chicken is free range and also sourced locally. Milk and cream come from Rolands dairy in Mawdesley and the local and speciality cheeses are from Preston. As well as a range of home-cooked meals, now over 20 varieties, Phil and Esther also produce their own chicken liver pate, rice, cous cous, spicy bean and pasta salads, luxury dairy ice cream and fruit sorbets. It has a Fill Your Dishes service for dinner parties, suitable to reheat at home.

Barrique, Lytham

Barrique is a wine Shop, bar and deli, offering a vast array of wines from around the world, and offers wine tasting, using its state-of-the-art Wineemotion vending machines. It also sells pastries, small plates, meats and cheeses sourced from local suppliers.
