Looking for some adventure this weekend? Donald Imrie previews a weekend of fun at Preston’s top nature reserve

Get your pulse racing at Brockholes

It is said fortune favours the brave, in which case Brockholes Nature Reserve in Preston is the place to be this weekend, as we host our first ever Extreme Adventure Weekend! The Extreme Adventure weekend (tomorrow and Sunday, 11am-5pm) sees the Lancashire Wildlife Trust managed reserve host five adrenaline raising activities that will test and excite people of all ages. The five adventure based activities each offer a different challenge and thrill. There is Mobile High Ropes - This fantastic high rope course towers an amazing 4m above the ground! Slack Lines - Much like tight-rope walking, this activity involves walking across a thin, stretchable strap that is not rigidly taut. Crash mats are provided! Land Zorbing - Why not get in one of the giant zorb balls to try one of the most popular adventure activities and see what the fuss is all about!

Scramble Net Challenge - Scale a 5m high cargo net, which is set an incline so you are nearly climbing upside down!  Spider Mountain - The challenge is to make your way up a series of elasticated spider webs and when you reach the 7m summit you slide down.

All activities come with a safety briefing, while experts will be on hand to pass on a few handy tips! It is just £7.50 to try three of these activities, or you can try the full set of five for just £12.50. Please note there is 1.1m minimum height restriction to be able to use the Mobile High Ropes and Spider Mountain. To book a place at what is sure to be an extremely exciting event, just call 01772 872000 now!

The Extreme Adventure activities are not the only event at Brockholes this weekend though. Tomorrow there is the chance to discover what creatures are living in our waters with Pond Dipping (sessions at 11am, 11.30am and noon) £1pp.

Sunday offers the perfect chance to explore the beautiful reserve in full with our FREE Guided Reserve Walk (1.30-4pm).
