£50,000 security fence at school

A new £50,000 security fence is set to be installed at a primary school near Chorley in an attempt to tackle anti-social behaviour on their grounds.

Adlington Primary School on Park Road has been a magnet for vandalism over the past couple of years and officials are overjoyed that their plans for perimeter fencing have been given the green light.

Lancashire County Council's development control committee granted an application for the erection of a two metre fence on top of existing walls and installing a 2.4metre high fencing and gates to the school boundary.

It is all part of plans to develop the school and also includes widening access gates to four metres.

Headteacher Tracey Taylor admits the fence will mark the end of an 18-month campaign by governors and teachers to improve security on the site.
