40 jobs at new Chorley store

Chorley's newest store has opened with the creation of 40 jobs.

B&M Bargains is based in the former Woolworths store in Market Walk, which has been Chorley's largest vacant town centre site since the retail giant closed in December.

Bosses of the new store are predicting that 15,000 people will visit the shop in the first week alone and have revealed it has opened a fortnight ahead of schedule.

Fitters worked around the clock to ensure that the premises were completely transformed in time.

Adam Colledge, operations director for B&M Bargains, said the company had been looking to establish itself in Chorley for some time.

He added: "We are delighted to have secured such an important and prominent location in the town.

"B&M Bargains has been keen to open a store in Chorley for more than eight years. Residents will no longer have to travel to Clevelys to visit us, as we know they had been previously doing."

The opening of the Chorley B&M's store has created 40 new jobs and the company said they had received more than 120 applications to fill the vacancies.

B&M Bargains' arrrival has met with a mixed response in Chorley.

Although delighted that the prime site is no longer empty, thousands of people signed up to an online petition calling for Primark to move in.

The company sells everything from clothing to toys, electricals, houseware and health and beauty.
