Chorley’s Shaw Hill Golf and Country Club is recognising one of its most loyal guests who called the hotel his second home for 18 months.

Long-term hotel guest and construction consultant Alan Ridley stayed at Shaw Hill in Whittle-le-Woods while he was working on a new building in nearby Buckshaw Village.

Originally from Sunderland, Alan would stay during the week as long as he could stay in Room 3 – no other room, or bed, would do.

“I was working really hard during the day and so getting a great night’s sleep in a comfy bed was just what I needed,” said Alan.

“Staying in Room 3 was just like coming home – it made me feel rested and settled, had a lovely view and also had great mobile phone signal for calling home.

“I joked with my wife that with two cats at home I also got more of the bed when I was staying at Shaw Hill!”

Alan even ended up on work nights out and offering to help behind the reception desk.

He said: “They made me feel like I was part of a family. It’s just a fabulous place to stay, plus being in construction myself I truly appreciate the architecture of the rooms and the building itself.”

As part of National Bed Month, Shaw Hill Golf and Country Club is refurbishing all its bedrooms.
