Bakery wins bread making award
A bakery is celebrating rising to the occasion to take home a basket of bread making awards.
Glover's Bakery, which has a shop in Ormskirk Road, Pemberton, won a total of eight prizes, including two first places, at the fourth annual North West Baker Fair, which is sponsored by the UK arm of the prestigious Richemont Club of Great Britain.
Glover's bakers Richard Griffiths and Martin Ormesher both won first places in the bread section at the ceremony at Bolton Arena last weekend.
Glover's Bakery owner, Alf Glover, said: "I am very pleased and proud of them because they have worked hard. This is the first time we have entered the competition as members of the regional school and they were up and down getting the trophies.
"We used our recipes that have developed over the years and our products so it is nice to know that some of what we are making is better than the rest. It was all worthwhile."
The Richemont Club of Great Britain is the UK section of the Richemont School of Bakery in Switzerland, which bakers must attend in order to gain entry to the club.
The club aims to encourage the sharing of ideas and skills between bakers and confectioners on an international scale.
