Chorley burglar locked up for three years
A prolific Chorley burglar has been locked up for three years.
Anthony Higgins, 20, from Delemere Place, Chorley was jailed when he appeared at at Preston Crown Court on Friday.
He was locked up under the 'three strikes and out' rules which sees prolific offenders given longer sentences.
Higgins, pictured, was released from prison on licence on January 28 this year but was arrested just two days later for a burglary offence.
He entered a home in Chorley and removed car keys, which he then used to steal a car.
Acting Det Insp Graham Hill, of Chorley CID, said: "Higgins was arrested very quickly.
This should send out a very strong message that we will do everything we can to prosecute and bring to justice people who commit crimes in Lancashire.
"I would like to reassure residents that burglaries are low and we want to keep them that way."
He added: "He's a prolific offender. He's got convictions for a whole range of offences, but mainly theft.
"He's a career criminal . The offence he was caught for was opportunistic in that he got through an unlocked door.
"The 'three strikes and your out' law is to target prolific offenders. He's off the street. He was on licence for previous offences when he committed this one.
"People should tackle their offending behaviour by working with the various agencies or the alternative is going to jail."
