Chorley drug dealer jailed

Police have hailed the jailing of a prolific Chorley drug dealer who was caught with more than £20,000 of illegal substances.

Brian Nolan, of Mere Fold, Charnock Richard, was sentenced to 21 months in jail after pleading guilty to possession of huge quantities of amphetamine and cannabis with a street value of up to 22,000.

The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply 2,473g of cannabis and 827g of amphetamine after police raided his home in June, last year.

Inspector Alison Harris, from Chorley police, said: "This is an excellent result following a lot of hard work by local police and CID officers in Chorley.

"It wouldn't have been possible without the support of community and thanks to that we have taken a drug dealer off the streets.

"Drug dealing is a real threat to our local communities, so this is a really great result for everyone concerned."

In the raid last June, officers found amphetamine worth between 6,410 and 8,250 hiden in Nolan's garage and three huge packs of vacuum-wrapped cannabis weighing more than 2,000g with a street value of approximately 14,102.

He pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court and was sentenced to 21 months in custody.

Coun Harold Heaton, who represents the area, said: "I was shocked to hear that someone was dealing drugs in the village, but we are not isolated from the rest of society and sadly these things do happen.

"I am happy that justice has been done and this person has been arrested and dealt with in the proper way.

"I hope it is reassures the local community that this kind of thing will not be tolerated in Charnock Richard. Hopefully this is just a one-off."
