Chorley teen vctim of sex assualt

Police in Leyland are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 16'year-old Chorley girl was sexually assaulted close to Leyland train station on Saturday night.

The incident happened between 9pm and 10pm when the teenager was approached from behind by a man on the corner of Moss Lane.

He has pushed her against a wall and indecently assaulted her over her clothing. The girl has screamed and has managed to break free from her attacker and run away.

The offender is described as white, aged in his late twenties or early thirties, around 6ft 2" tall with muscular build. He was wearing a black hooded fleece top, dark blue jeans and smelt strongly of cigarettes.

DC Dave Johnson from South Ribble CID said: "This incident has left the young victim completely distraught and we need the public's help to catch the man responsible.

"I would appeal to anyone who may witnessed something or who may have any information relating to this sexual assault to contact police on 08451 25 35 45 quoting log reference number LC-20100717-1955 or Leyland CID direct on 01772 415947/415846 asking for DC Dave Johnson or DS Cass."

Police are also appealing to anyone in the area with any private CCTV between 9pm and 10pm on Saturday to contact them.
