Staff at Chorley Council are celebrating after the authority became one of only a few councils in the North West to be awarded the Workplace Wellbeing Charter.

The national award is recognition for providing a healthy working environment and improving the health and wellbeing of their employees.

It has a running club, health checks and other initiatives for staff.

Coun Peter Wilson said: “We are delighted to win this award, as a healthy workplace means our staff can continue to provide excellent services for the people who live in the borough.

“Having clean, safe and healthy communities is a priority for us and we need a healthy workforce to continue delivering the excellent services that will help us achieve this and make a difference to the lives of our residents.”

The Workplace Wellbeing Charter is run by Health@Work, a charity that works with organisations to help create healthier and more productive workforces.
