An investigation into a proposal for Chorley to break away from Lancashire County Council has been passed by councillors.

Chorley Council’s controlling Labour group wants to examine the possibility of the authority ‘going it alone’ as a unitary council - like Blackpool and Blackburn did in Lancashire.

A special meeting of the council last night voted in favour of pursuing the idea.

See Tuesday’s Chorley Guardian for more about this story.
