Coun Terry Brown introduces Chorley Councils new employability officer, Laura Martin

Coun Terry Brown introduces Chorley Councils new employability officer, Laura Martin

An employability service has been launched to help unemployed people increase their chances of finding work.

Thanks to Government funding, employability officer Laura Martin is now based at Chorley Council’s civic offices, on Union Street, Chorley.

She is helping people aged 25 to 49 who have been out of work for six to 12 months.

She offers advice on how to overcome barriers to work, as well as budget management and improving skills.

Coun Terry Brown said: “This is a new service for Chorley Council and as far as we know, it is the first time any council has employed an employability officer to target this specific group of people.

“Offering this new service is part of our drive to get more local people who are unemployed back into work.”

To seek help from the employability service, call 01257 515151 to make an appointment or visit the civic offices.
