Is this photograph proof that UFOs are in the air?
A Chorley man got a shock when he took a picture of a hot air balloon flying overhead – and captured an image of a UFO instead.
Last month, the Guardian reported how emergency services were called to Abbey Village when the hot air balloon came down and left 500 homes and businesses without power.
Quick-thinking Darryl Hatton, from Whittle-le-Woods, saw the hot air balloon as he was waiting to be picked up by his partner from the Top Lock pub, in Wheelton.
As a result, the 47-year-old reached for his mobile phone to capture the moment.
Weeks after the incident Mr Hatton was about to delete the photograph when he noticed an unidentified flying object had come into shot.
He said: "It was really surreal to see the five lights just above the balloon which was coming down.
"I am very open-minded about paranormal activity, that is why I have asked some friends about it.
"I had been waiting outside so there is nothing to do with glare off lights in a window and it has really shocked me.
"I was only taking a photograph of the balloon because I have seen it flying low when walking with my dogs.
"It is strange because it was the same weekend when the balloon came down in Abbey Village and cut off the electricity supply.
"I would not have believed my eyes at the time and would have blamed it on the alcohol but when you look back at it, now and see it on my phone
you realise that you cannot change it."
