AROUND £30,000 worth of high performance vehicles have been stolen from a newly-opened car dealership.

Raiders smashed through the side of the Premier Car Centre, Bengal Street, to get into the premises.

Owner Terry Ormesher said he was left “gutted” when he discovered the raid as he opened up for business on Monday morning.

Stolen were:

n A BMW M Sport worth £12,000.

n A white Vauxhall Corsa VXR valued at £10,000.

n A £7,500 black VW Golf GTi Turbo.

Mr Ormesher, 33, of Pilling Lane, Chorley, only launched the dealership two months ago.

He said had the premises not been well insured and because business had been brisk since opening, the theft could have put the new firm in real jeopardy.

“It was miraculous how they’ve got in – they’ve come through the side of the wall,” said Mr Ormesher.

“I came in this morning (Monday) and the front gates had been bolt cropped off.

“They tried to get in the front door then eventually came to the side of the building and smashed all the side of the building in.”

“I looked on the forecourt and noticed there wasn’t as many vehicles as there were when I locked up.

“They’ve even left their tools behind. It was clearly a professional outfit.”

The theft happened sometime between 4.30pm on Sunday and 9.20am yesterday. After breaking in, the thieves took the vehicle keys they wanted from a safe.

Mr Ormesher said: “They took the three most expensive cars I’ve got – all high performance stuff.

“I’m gutted, but it’s one of those things. The only plus side is we are well insured and we have been very, very lucky with the amount of business we have done so far, otherwise it could have closed us.”

Mr Ormesher said he believes the raiders may have targeted a £30,000 Mercedes.

But that had left the premises after being sold on Sunday.

He said he was suspicious about a phone call inquiring about the car and added: “I think someone has come for that car.”

Mr Ormesher opened his Premier Car Centre on the site of the former Motorhouse dealership.
