Excited youngsters are looking forward to tucking into delicious pancakes for Shrove Tuesday.

Children at Busy Bees Nursery, on Brooke Street, Chorley, put their eggs and flour into the frying pan as they learned how to make pancakes.

And it was then time to master tossing the pancakes, trying not to drop or break them.

The children topped their pancakes with bananas and other tasty treats.

They will eat their pancakes today, as well as take part in pancake races.

Pancakes are traditionally eaten today – Shrove Tuesday – in a Christian tradition preparing for the start of Lent tomorrow.

Sharon Frawley, assistant manager, said: “They have been talking about pancakes all day and they can’t wait to eat them.”
