Chorley Council’s plans to allocate a gypsy and traveller site in the borough are on track following a meeting last night.
A special council meeting held in the Lancastrian Room of the town hall voted in favour of approving the Chorley Local Plan 2012-26 Gypsy and Traveller and Travelling Showpeople Allocation - September 2014 for submission to the Local Plan Inspector.
Chorley has been told by a Government-appointed planning inspector that it has to provide a site.
The council identified nine potential sites - with Cowling Farm, Chorley, the preferred option.
A submission will now go the inspector ahead of a re-opened Local Plan examination hearing in Chorley Town Hall on September 23 and 24.
The voting went 29 for, 13 against, one abstention.
