Simon Williams, 45, from Chorley, was riding a Triumph Daytona 675 motorbike which collided with an Audi A6 car at the junction of Wigan Lane and Duxbury Hall Road at around 1.35pm on Saturday.

Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement, his family said: “Simon was an accomplished, dedicated and experienced rider having been riding for 30 years. It was his passion and he had previously toured Europe on his motorcycle.
